Maria FARTUNOVA -MICHEL
Co-Head of Master 1 European and International Studies
Maria Fartunova-Michel is a senior lecturer in Public Law, specializing in European law. She teaches at the Faculty of Law and the CEU and is a regular contributor to the Center’s delocalized diplomas (Sofia, Lubin). Her research focuses on European litigation, European protection of human rights, the European Union as an area of freedom, security, and justice, and EU bioethics law.
She is the author of numerous publications, most recently Droit de l’Union europĂ©enne de la bioĂ©thique (Bruxelles, Bruylant, coll. Monographies, 2021, 414p. co-authored with B. NABLI). She co-directs and organizes several conferences and study days at IRENEE and abroad (Young FIDE Seminar XXX Congress FIDE Sofia, 2023). She is a member of the Association Française d’Etudes EuropĂ©ennes, the European Association of Health Law, and the Group Interest of supranational Biolaw. She is an elected member of the CEU Board of Directors. Since 2023, she has been co-director of the CEU’s Master 1 in European and International Studies and coordinator of the Euridentity certificate (a strategic partnership with 6 universities in the Greater Region).
She holds the Jean Monnet “EUBioethics” Chair (Bioethics and European Governance), which is affiliated with the European University Center, the Nancy Faculty of Law, and the IRENEE laboratory, which is responsible for the Chair’s financial and administrative management.
