Tourya GUAAYBESS

Head of the International Public Relations course


Tourya Guaaybess is a professor of Information and Communication Sciences and head of the International Public Relations master’s program at the Centre EuropĂ©en Universitaire in Nancy. A member of the Centre de recherche sur les mĂ©diations (Crem) at the University of Lorraine and a research associate at the DĂ©veloppement et SociĂ©tĂ© laboratory (University of Paris 1 PanthĂ©on-Sorbonne), she is interested in the effects of media confluence (the interaction of different types of media) on the mediatization of discourses and actors.

Trained as a political scientist, she carried out her initial research in Cairo at the CEDEJ (CNRS, Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs) on the audiovisual media in Egypt. After defending her doctoral thesis at the IEP in Lyon, she became a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the European University Center in Florence (Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies), where she focused on information in the Euro-Mediterranean area. She was a visiting professor at Kyoto University (in 2010) and, in 2015, a visiting scholar at St Antony’s College, Oxford University.

Her publications focus on journalism, media in the Euro-Mediterranean area, European cooperation policies in the media field and NGO communication.
