Connecting values
The “theoretical” courses are complemented by the acquisition of “know-how” through case studies, testimonies from professionals, conferences, colloquia, and study trips (European Parliament, Court of Justice, etc.).
The internship in the second year of the Master’s program is also an essential element of this training, allowing the acquisition of “know-how”, adaptability to the professional world and the strengthening of skills.
The teaching in the various specialties is provided by real specialists in their field, both French and foreign. CEU students also come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Although the CEU is mainly oriented towards Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC), it also welcomes students from all over the world.
The backgrounds of students entering the CEU are very diverse. They have their place at the CEU and will be able to find the course within the Master’s program that is most suitable for them.
Show moreStructure emanating from the European Union, it offers a documentary fund dedicated to European questions. The EDC offers an ideal place for students and researchers wishing to deepen their knowledge of Europe, and a particularly pleasant working environment.
The C.E.U. benefits from the structures and activities offered to students by the Université de Lorraine. The sports, linguistic and cultural facilities, as well as the libraries on the various campuses are freely accessible to them.
It is this diversity that encourages exchanges. At the CEU, we find everything that makes the European spirit strong: mutual enrichment through diversity and cultural understanding (internal student newspaper: “Vox”; student meals…).
The CEU is a place where it is good to work but also good to live. Located in the heart of Nancy, the CEU has a privileged working environment: small classrooms allow real contact between students and teachers; a large foyer, where students can work and discuss around the coffee machine; the European Documentation Centre.
Friendship, Solidarity, Sharing, Openness… are the values shared by the members of the Alumni Association of the CEU. The association brings together many former students from different classes and nationalities who have made the history of the Centre. They never miss an opportunity to get together to reminisce about the good times spent at the CEU or to organise conferences, meetings, trips, etc.
The association is keen to maintain strong links with the new classes. This is why it organises an annual meeting with the new students. It also provides them with a directory containing the contact details of the Centre’s “alumni”, a valuable tool in the search for an internship or a job. This network helps to forge links between the different classes and to develop contacts throughout the world.
Show moreSince 2005, the Centre has had a BDE. Its role is to make the CEU a lively and friendly place, a place of exchange between students. To this end, the BDE organises various events, such as cake sales, parties, a welcome drink for new students or an integration weekend in the Vosges All these activities make the CEU a unique place, an ideal place to combine studies and a rich student life.
A word from the director
Created in 1950, when the ECSC was taking its first steps with the adoption of the Robert Schuman Declaration of May 9, 1950, the European University Center of Nancy is one of the oldest European training institutions. One of its primary values is to be and to have always been a place of mixing between Eastern and Western Europe, at a time when the Cold War was dividing the European continent. Benefiting from the expertise of contributors from different backgrounds and specialties (law, economics, political science, literature, communication, management, etc.), the CEU has quickly made its mark by developing an original and multidisciplinary approach to teaching European issues. The CEU currently offers a Master’s degree in “European and International Studies”, with its various courses (European Union Law, Local Authorities and the European Union, Management and Strategies of Companies in Europe, International Public Relations (Communication)).
Its values
Since its inception, the CEU has trained approximately 5,000 students of a hundred different nationalities. Each year the European Center welcomes students from all over Europe but also from all over the world (America, Asia-Pacific, Africa). The CEU promotes cultural exchange in a spirit of conviviality, openness and interactivity. It is a privileged place for discussions and exchanges on the current state of affairs of the European Union and the multiple challenges facing this unique and unprecedented construction, as Jean Monnet wrote in his Memoirs. The students, with their diverse backgrounds and profiles, are integrated into a friendly, warm and lively structure where exchange, interculturality and proximity are privileged, in particular thanks to the Students’ Office (BDE) which animates the European University Center and brings its support to the students.
A place of education open to Europe
The European Center aims to be a bridge between different cultures, which allows students to understand the evolution and enlargement of the European Union. The teaching is provided by professors from French and foreign universities, by senior officials of the European Union and the Council of Europe, by practitioners from the legal, economic and communication sectors. This specificity ensures a European vision of its teaching with an international dimension. Numerous partnerships with foreign universities allow the European Center to welcome students within the framework of the Erasmus + program and international exchanges, and to send them to partner universities of the University of Lorraine.
